Research activities

Vision Eye Institute places a strong emphasis on clinical research, and it is the 1st choice in Australia for international clinical trials on new drugs and equipment.

Our doctors:

• provide surgical and clinical training to other practitioners, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, and general practitioners.
• are invited to present papers at scientific conferences in Australia and overseas.
• are invited to participate in American FDA clinical trials, which is recognition of their high standards and international reputation.
• have collectively published more than 150 articles in scientific medical journals. This is a prolific rate of publication, unmatched by any other private eye clinic in Australia.
• have published an extensive number of articles in the areas of refractive surgery, laser vision correction, and corneal transplantation.  This represents powerful peer recognition of our doctors' contributions to the advancement of treatments for patients with vision disorders.
• hold or have held prominent positions with professional organisations and health institutions in Australia, such as the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, The Royal North Shore Hospital, and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

As part of its committment to research, Vision Institute has also employed a full-time Research and Surgical Fellow, appointed annually. Past fellows have come from the United States, England, and Israel.
